ETIENNE TSHISEKEDI TO PRESIDE CONGO MARTYRDOM DAY

Tshitshi-nationalThe UDPS’s leader Etienne Tshisekedi will preside Congo Martyrdom Day by his presence at an eucumenic religious service planned for March 7, 2010 in Bruxells (Belgium) announces the UDPS/BELUX representative, François Tshipamba Mpuila in a press release issued February 23rd in Belgium.

The UDPS’s representative goes on saying that a Plate-Forme des Forces Congolaises de Progres (Plateform of Congolese Forces for Prosperity) has been formed in Belgium whose goal is to make June 30th, Congo’s Independence Day, a day of martyrdom, of mourning, sorrow, meditation, unity, reconciliation and reflexion in the memory of all Congolese who have died since the end of Belgian colonization’s era, which occured on June 30th, 1960. The Congo people he said, will not take part in any official celebratory activity organized by the Congo government understanding that there has never been a government of the people for the people and the rule of law has been absent throughout of the country from 1960 to this date.

The tragedy faced by the Congo for 50 years has been multidimensional, reads the press release, towering to the loss of Congo’s sovereignty, misery and destruction, dependence, occupation, political, military, economic domination and exploitation of our country; absence of vital infrastructures in the field of administration, health, transportation, and communications; the loathing of our national treasures. All this have rendered the Democratic Republic of Congo a national Cimetery. So the Congo people has nothing to celebrate about on this coming June 30th, 2010. Reason why it will be a Martyrdom Day throughout the country.

The Martyrdom Day of June 30th 2010 begun on January 3rd in Bruxells (Belgium) with an important religious ceremony organized by 23 Congolese priests and their Belgian colleagues in commemoration of the first victims of Congo’s independence killed by the colonial rule on January 4th, 1959 in Kinshasa, then called Leopoldville. It was attended by the majority of members of the Congolese Diaspora and many of their Belgian and Africans friends. More other memorial and religious services are planned throughout of this year up to the Fiftieth Anniversary of Congo Independence, June 30 th, 2010 which will be marqued by a Special Religious Service June 27th, 2010, in Bruxells .
